CBV Alumni Board Feature: Jacob Allen + pilotEd Schools
2020-21 CBV Alumni Board Feature: Jacob Allen of pilotEd Schools
What propelled you into the entrepreneurial space? And what do you enjoy most about being a founder?
I was interested in becoming an entrepreneur once I was exposed to massive inequities in the K-12 public education system after being a middle school educator for several years in urban Chicago. Today, I am most fond of being able to react to problems both internally and within the education space with great flexibility and autonomy.
Tell me about an experience you had as an entrepreneur or in starting your company that exemplified one of Camelback's core values.
Unafraid of Failure - Knowing that the journey would be long and hard to raise our first $1M and executing against our earliest vision, our team at pilotED Schools never waivered. We adapted, solved problems, asked questions, and never gave up.
Is there anyone from the #camelbackfam you'd like to shout-out?
I would like to shout-out (CBV staff) Elizabeth Bates and Aaron Walker - both of them have been my #1s since day one. They are the smiling faces I look forward to reconnecting with at conferences, the people I text with quick questions and/or suggestions, and two people who simply bring me joy.
How are you and/or your team adapting to the challenges of the coronavirus crisis? What are you most proud of overcoming in recent months?
I am most proud of the social-based events and food assistance we have provided to our 200 families.
